LA Journal

LA Journal from Diane Smith on Vimeo.

After several tries I have finally managed to upload the video of my travel journal. In a previous post I showed the photo of the cover for the journal from the class Remains of the Day. The theme of the class is scrappy and reuse. Trying to keep to that I used old magazine pages, envelops and scraps of previous projects and machine stitched to make the pages. I'll be using my Pogo printer while traveling to add photos to the journal as well as bring a small box of "stuff" to add and embellish as I go. Using scraps forced me to work out of a box of neat and tidy to work more intuitively and less perfect.

  1. Lovely! I know you have a lot of machine stitching in it but it's not that apparent, and I don't really want to do a lot of stitching, so I'm gonna bookmark yours as a gorgeous example of primarily paper-pieced collaged pages. That's what I want to make first (I'm a new Remains student). Thanks for the video! xoxo

  6. I've just watched your video and think your Journal is already beautiful before you have started to use it. What a great way of recycling some of the paper that would otherwise end up in the bin. Thankyou for visiting my blog - in spite of the signs of spring the weather is very grey and dismal, but at least we have got rid of the snow. Enjoy your trip to LA.
